Newborn and family photoshoot in Leicester
I remember after my first born was born listening to a song that said: one days old, two days old, three days old. And just like that my baby was getting older day by day, it felt like time went too fast- ( and nights too)
At the same time, the idea of organising a photoshoot is just too much. May be you’re still hurting, your tummy is still swollen , your stitches are pulling, you want to rest, to relax so at home is best to capture these days that go too fast without having to make much effort. I am used to re-arranging furniture and making the most of each home- I never know what I’ll find- so don’t worry if it’s not super tidy.
And if it’s not the first child, you already have your hands full. When a child is special needs, it can be even more tiring. But each child comes with their challenges and their blessings. each child teaches us about ourselves and about life. Labels like special needs, asd etc can help us help them, understand, have more patience, more tools, more compassion, but they don’t define anyone, each of us is unique and is family too.
Yuvan’s big brother was unsettled by all the changes, by me being an outsider, by being asked to be in the photos but letting him be him and being witness to his relationship with his parents without demanding anything was just fine. Who says you can’t be upside down to kiss mum anyway? Sensory sensibilities make it more difficult to be held, to have physical contact, to give and receive love even though it is as essential as for anyone else. So each family find their way.
I’d never done black background photos for a newborn but I love them so will be happy to do more. What do you think?
I have many other newborn photoshoots at home, this one for example.
